Alandi is a town located approximately 25 kilometers (16 miles) northwest of Pune, Maharashtra, India. Its primary claim to fame and source of deep reverence is being the resting place (Samadhi Sthan) of the revered Marathi saint, Sant Dnyaneshwar (also spelled Jnaneshwar). Because of this, it is often called "Devachi Alandi," meaning "Alandi of the God" or "Alandi of the Divine." It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites (especially for Varkaris) in Maharashtra.
