As we all welcome Diwali in a matter of a few days, it would be handy if we don't give away everything which might seem rubbish. Millennials are increasingly opting for greener and recyclable alternatives of the traditional festivity, here we are enlisting some quirky and trendy DIY hacks to have an edgy evening celebration.
Leftover Wine Bottle Lamps
As easy as the name suggests, the leftover wine-bottle lamps are something a 5-year-old can make. All you need is a multi-socket extension cable, tinted-glass bottles and fairy lights. You can either drop in the entire strand of fairy light inside the bottle and leave the plug connected to the socket, or you can make a hole at the back of the bottle to make the cable look more discreet.
Shot Glass Alcohol Candles
Use those shot glasses to jazz up miniature flames by pouring diluted alcohol potions and either lighting them up directly or using a sting & a plastic flap to give a more candle-ish appeal. This could be considered hazardous especially when kids are around them. You can also use inflammable petro-jelly or colourful oils to replace alcohol potion.
Cup Candles
As easy it seems, cup candles would need some old crockery which still has an aesthetic or rustic look to it. Melt some wax in a double-boiler, add some fragrance of your choice and pour the potion in the cups along with a string. You may also add some glitter to it either within the mix or atop the wax when it cools down.
Fruit Shell Candles
Anything with a hard shell could be your refuge. Food residues such as coconut shell, pumpkin skin, watermelon skin, dried gourd shell or even eggshells can show youralternative preferences when it comes to quirky home-decor this Diwali. Along with celebrating the festivity, an idea to celebrate environment-friendliness can be a great idea!
