Mumbai's Antop Hill area is located east of the Harbour railway line. One prominent feature of Antop Hill is the Central Govt. Housing Colony. Established in the latter half of the 1950s the Housing Colony primarily houses government workers employed in departments such as Customs, Income Tax, Indian Navy, Sales Tax, and other central government offices—the Harbor Line's Kings Circle Station. Antoba, a local Marathi proprietor, is the source of the name. Over time, the name became "Antop" due to anglicization. The C.G.S. colony is located to the north, while MBPT is to the south. It is well-known for its apartment buildings, which mostly house families from the middle class. The region is distinguished by its proximity to Lower Parel and Wadala business centers.
