With a constant push for an increment in modes of transport, the country's busiest corridor connecting the two prime urban regions are desperate for further options. The Delhi-Mumbai route is connected by tens of high-speed intercity trains, hundreds of flights and a road-network which is deemed archaic and cannot cope up with the amount of freight and passenger vehicles passing through. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways came up with a plan to construct a greenfield Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with multiple lanes and capacity to cut-down the travel time in a substantial manner. The plan was made public when the minister Nitin Gadkari unfolded the figures of the current fiscal year and plans for years to come, pertaining to road development.
