April 16: Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bengaluru has achieved record-breaking annual passenger traffic and cargo numbers in the financial year 2023-24. A total of 37.53 million passengers passed through the terminals, with 32.86 million being domestic and 4.67 million being international passengers.

The airport also handled 4,39,524 metric tonnes of cargo during this period. This represents a significant milestone in the airport's history, with the highest passenger and cargo figures ever recorded. The airport has seen an increase in the number of airlines and destinations it connects to, further solidifying its position as a key gateway for travel across South and Central India

The airport has been expanding its connectivity, with a total of 100 destinations, including 75 domestic and 25 international destinations. This expansion has been facilitated by the launch of Terminal 2 (T2), which has strengthened the airport's capacity and operational efficiency.

Terminal 2 started handling all international operations, with Saudia operating the first international arrival to Terminal 2, on 12 September 2023.
