Maharashtra residents may soon see come into effect a Housing Regulatory Authority to handle housing societies' issues. This authority is expected to function along the lines of MahaRERA.
The State Government's Co-operation, Marketing, and Textiles department had formed a team to study the possible inclusion of a separate chapter for co-operative housing societies in the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act 1960. Ramesh Prabhu, Chairman of Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association said, "The suggestion of the team is that a Regulatory Authority must be formed, which will deal with disputes arising out of co-operative society and it will be solved there itself."
OUR TAKE
Each housing society faces different issues. An authority such as this would make the functioning and administration of co-operative housing societies simple, distinct, transparent and convenient.
