Buying ottomans can be an expensive affair, and no one told us that having a great taste in home decor would prove fatal for our wallets. But why must everything pretty come at the cost of money? We bring you the DIY ottoman hack, that will not only cosy up your room but will also add that rustic feel.
All you need is a used tyre, a circular MDF board, 6 screws, a drill, hot glue gun and thick rope.
Start off by cleaning the tyre and drill in the two MDF boards on both sides, deep enough to hold it in place.
You should start glueing the rope, from the centre of the board. With the hot glue gun, secure one end of the rope firmly.
Start wounding the rope tightly, in a snail shape. You will slowly cover the entire board, and then start covering the whole tyre. Remember to put generous amounts of glue before each round.
Make sure that your entire tyre, right from the flat surface on top, to the one in the bottom is covered uniformly with the rope.
Stick the last end of the rope to the bottom.
Apply two coats of sealer to the rope covered tyre, and your brand new rustic ottoman is good to go!
