Wadala, a micro-market in south-eastern Mumbai has undergone a substantial transformation from a largely industrial zone to a developing residential market. The large-scale land development of the region can be attributed to its proximity to BKC. Wadala is strategically located between South Mumbai and suburban Mumbai, and so enjoys connectivity to most parts of the city through road as well as rail.
This market's road infrastructure has also improved over the years. Wadala is in demand by many aspirant property buyers since it provides a comfortable lifestyle with its affordable projects providing all modern-day amenities.
An added benefit is that the government owns huge land parcels in the area, and these could be developed into parks and other recreational centres. Developers like Ajmera, Lodha Group and Dosti Group have recognised the potential of this area, and have introduced their infrastructure projects.
Connectivity to Wadala
Wadala enjoys connectivity to Thane through the Eastern Express Highway. Easter Express Freeway connects this micro-market to Chembur and CST. One can anywhere between Bandra to Borivali from Wadala through the Western Express Highway. Sion, King's Circle, and Dadar are other nearby areas that can be reached within 30 minutes. Wadala is also known to have the largest bus depot in Mumbai.
In terms of connectivity through railway network, Wadala is an important station on the harbour line of Mumbai's railway network.
Infrastructural projects like the Chembur-Wadala monorail led to an increase in property demands in the area. Some upcoming infrastructural projects, like the second phase of the monorail that will connect Wadala to Mahalaxmi, could further boost the demand in the region. Another planned project is an elevated corridor connecting BKC to the Eastern Express Highway.
Mumbai's Metro's fourth line, which will connect Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarwadavali is also under construction.
