In collaboration with MahaOnline, MahaRERA has mapped about 4,500 projects of the 16,000 projects under the Geographical Information System (GIS). The inclusion of projects under the GIS will allow citizens to find details of homes of their choice online in a map view.
"The system has mapped 4,500 projects and the remaining 11,500 would be mapped shortly," a MahaRERA official told ET.
Our take
This provision will add more transparency to the home-buying procedure. Prospective buyers will not only be able to access the details of various projects but will also be able to analyse all amenities in the proximity of the project.
Buyers will be able to access the "view map" feature on the MahaRERA website to open registered projects. They can then zoom in and check all active schemes in the areas of their choice. This feature will put home buyers at an advantage as they will be able to get a real view of the project without having to visit the site. They can search for various utility amenities like nearest railway stations, bus stops, taxi stands, ATMs, hospitals etc.
Shantilal Kataria, president of CREDAI Maharashtra, told TOI, "The GIS mapping is a more transparent approach and it will help citizens decide on the project of their choice."
