Mofatraj P. Munot is the Founder, Promoter, and Chairman of Kalpataru Limited which has been building fine homes and commercial complexes in nine cities for about five decades.
Kalpataru Limited, a part of the Kalpataru Group, is one of India's leading real estate companies founded in 1969. The name, Kalpataru has been derived from Kalpavruksha, which is a mythological tree of wish fulfillment.
Munot is believed to have secured many construction contracts in the Middle East, during the 1970s and is also the creator of the palace of the ruler of Sharjah. He expanded the group's interests to Power Transmission and Infrastructure EPC, Civil Contracting, Property and Facility Management, and, Logistics and Warehousing Services, successfully leading Kalpataru to new avenues, within India and globally.
Munot has previously served as the President of Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry, and is an active advisor to several industry bodies.
Not only has Munot been receiving various accolades for his contribution to the sector, his company has been outperforming every year. He was named as the 'Infrastructure Person' of the Year 2012. While Kalpataru has been bagging recognition as well, the most recent one being the best residential project from a wide range of Realty awards in 2017.

His company, Kalpataru redefines new age construction by considering the environmental impact. Unlike his counterparts, the builder focuses on incorporating measures like using efficient lighting solutions such as LEDs and CFLs, applying low VOC paints, dual flush toilets, waste water treatment, using solar reflective index material for roofing on top floors to avoid high indoor temperatures and diligent use of construction and demolition waste.
In an interview with Construction World magazine in 2013, Munot said, "We have been at the forefront in redefining the skyline of urban India and built landmark residential and commercial projects that are a testimony to impeccable architectural standards and the finest quality."
Kalpataru has very often set new standards in real estate development. From building Mumbai's tallest residential tower in the 70's, a record that stood for the next quarter of a century, to introducing the concept of 1.5 bedroom homes, to building Asia's first, and the world's sixth Platinum LEED certified commercial building, to being among the earliest adopters of eco-friendly construction methodologies.
Munot is also a trustee of the NGO named, The Munot Foundation which organizes several initiatives across the country, in the areas of education and healthcare, reaching out to society's least privileged. He believes that good education and good health are the two pillars upon which the future of the country rests.
