The Mattancherry Palace is possibly the only house in India, or in the world to have a floor made of eatables. The palace, located in Kochi, Kerala, is a colonial reminiscence made in Portuguese style, which hosted the Portuguese, The Dutch, The ruler of Mysore Hyder Ali and lately, by the British.
It was made in the year 1555 by the Portuguese, which they later gifted to the king of Cochin. Its floor is made using traditional Kerala flooring which consists of egg white, buttermilk and jaggery and has an appearance like the polished black marble, whereas actually, it is made up of processed edible matter.
