Maharashtra's housing department soon plans to put in place a mechanism to address complaints of people buying houses in projects not registered with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), reported media.
The high court on Monday had directed the state to file its reply to a petition on lack of policy to deal with conflicts between buyers and developers of unregistered projects.
MahaRERA secretary Vasant Prabhu told TOI that a system consisting of an email address to register complaints was in place to address the issues of unregistered projects.
He said if a project approval had been delayed, RERA asks the realtor to register with penalty. If a project is not approvable, the complainants would have to inform the planning authority concerned for further action.
He also stated that to help citizens register their complaints easily regarding unregistered projects, MahaRERA is planning to come out with a simple form.
