As per media reports by ET Realty, about 25 lakh people across Maharashtra have registered online for affordable houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Additional chief secretary (Housing) Sanjay Kumar told media that as per the PMAY website, ₹24.9 lakh people have registered online, while ₹12.2 lakh applicants were found eligible for a house under the scheme.
Kumar added that the cost of the house ranges from ₹3 lakh to ₹10 lakh, on which the Union government provides a subsidy of ₹1.5 lakh while the state provides ₹1 lakh. The area of the house shall be 300 sq. ft. for the economically weaker section while it shall range between 30 sq. meters to 60 sq. meters for the lower income group.
