As per media reports from ET Realty, the state government has approved an appellate authority for Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maha-Rera). The tribunal will hear appeals against orders passed by MahaRera.
Maharashtra was the first state to notify and set up the authority on May 1, 2017. Until now, there was no body where the orders of MahaRera could be challenged.
Shirish Deshpande of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat told ET, "We welcome the full-fledged appellate tribunal. Till now, there was a temporary tribunal. This is a tribunal for all MahaRera orders. So, finally justice has been done.''
Builder Niranjan Hiranandani told ET, "We will be first state in India to appoint a full-fledged appellate authority. Up till now, people had to go to High Court. Setting up of an appellate authority was designed in the law.''
